President Obama Appreciates Malaysia's Contribution



President Barack Obama expressed his great appreciation for Malaysia's contribution in maintaining regional peace and security during his recent trip to Asia where he met with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) leaders.

Obama cited the role Malaysia played in tackling terrorism as the intermediary in resolving the conflict in Southern Philippines. He also commended Malaysia's ability to maintain security in the Straits of Melaka and keeping check on human trafficking.

The Wall Street Journal Touts Malaysian Coffee as "Asia's Best!"



According to the Wall Street Journal, Malaysia may very well have the most outstanding brew in all of Asia!

The Wall Street Journal in its November 6th edition of 'Food and Drink,' said that Malaysian coffee has a unique and tasteful flavor that can be attributed to the sugar and butter which are roasted with the coffee beans.

Malaysia to Double Tiger Population by 2010



Malaysia's Deputy Premier Muhyiddin Yassin announced plans to double the population of the endangered Malayan Tiger through a new initiative to manage and conserve the big cat in its natural environment. The National Tiger Action Plan targets an increase to 1,000 tigers in their natural habitat by 2020.

IJN Strikes Deal to Treat Patients from the U.S.



The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) succeeded in getting eight American companies to establish ties with the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Malaysia at the 2nd World Medical Tourism and Global Health congress in Los Angeles.

A letter of intent will pave the way for these firms to send U.S. patients to IJN for medical care and treatment. An estimated 375,000 medical tourists visited Malaysia last year.

Malaysia Wins Big at World Travel Awards: 2009



Malaysia swept seven Asian awards recently at the prestigious World Travel Awards regional finals in London, England. Dubbed the "Oscars" of the global tourism industry, the awards are recognized as the highest honor within the
travel industry.

Tourism Malaysia's "Malaysia: Truly Asia" tagline was voted as Asia's leading marketing campaign.
